A really early start (5.45am) to make sure we were up and ready for the bus trip to the start of New Zealand's best one day walk - the Tongarrio Crossing. I had been on holidays to Europe and a bit further afield, but never done the proper 'Round the World' backpacking adventure. I started planning for that very event in 2004.
