Independence Mine State Park June 28th 2011 Independence Mine State Park is located in Hatchers Pass in the Talkeetna Mountains. It was a hard rock gold mining operations run by Alaska-Pacific Consolidated Mining Company. It was actively mined from 1938 to 1943 and at its peak in 1941 the mine employed as many as 200 workers.
