June 13th 2011 Today was one of the best days imaginable. Both Don and I felt like explorers entering a new world. LeConte Glacier is a 21-mile-long and one-mile-wide glacier Since its discovery in 1887, the glacier has retreated nearly 2.5 miles (4 km), although it is considered to be in a stable position today.
