We've spent the past week in Hawke's Bay wine country staying at 'Gannet Lodge' in Clive. The name refers to the large colony of Australasian Gannets nearby at Cape Kidnappers who are here pretty much all year round except May and June - still, this gives us an excuse to come back one day. We started this travel blog in 2005 when we set off on a ten-month around-the-world trip with a couple of backpacks and not much else. In 2008, we emigrated to New Zealand with four suitcases and a guitar and spent the first month travelling throughout the country, from Auckland to Christchurch, via a roundabout route.
