The Duke of Wellington Still Stirs Controversy

There is actually a parliamentary battle going on over this statue at the end of Bridge Street. The PC crowd want this statue of the victor at Waterloo to be replaced by one of the poet Robert Burns. The bleeding hearts think the current statue glorifies war. Opponents say many many Scots died fighting Napoleon and they should be remembered.

Merry Christmas to us. In the spirit of the holiday I allowed everyone to sleep in a bit. Had it been any other day I would have had us out exploring the city at the break of dawn.
