Dangerous Descent

Up until now the icy pavement and snowy roads hadn't been much of a problem for our walking tour. Once we reached the near summit of the dormant volcano where Edinburgh Castle sits we were led down a series of steps to the lower part of town. Once again no snow or ice removal. It was genuinely wicked going. About halfway down the first series of steps I paused to take a few shots of the castle.

Flying over to Scotland was a breeze. Actually there was a definite lack of a breeze as the Gulf Stream seemed to have disappeared. El NiƱo was wreaking havoc with weather patterns both in the States and throughout Europe.
