It's been an eventful day. We were awakened at 5am by a knocking on our cabin door; the train would be reaching Lao Cai, our destination, in about 15-20 minutes. We've decided to take off six months to see Asia and Australia and revisit New Zealand before we turn 40. Angelique's been to Asia once (Bhutan, a few days in Malaysia, only one in Singapore) and this will be Adrian's first time on the continent. Neither one of us has been to Australia but we did spend 3 weeks in New Zealand in 2007 and can't wait to return. If all goes well, our plan to is to spend a week in Japan, six weeks in southeast Asia, 2-3 in Australia and then 3 months in New Zealand, returning home to San Francisco in late March, 2010.
