BELEM Woke up early today to put our hammocks up on the 7-day boat slog to Manaus. We stayed in Belem for 2 nights to recharge our batteries after the marathon 28hr bus journey from Fortaleza. Manaus which is the basin for the amazon river can only be reached from the south by boat. The road networks arnt extensive enough, the river is the highway of travel.
