O’zapft is - this means that the first barrel of beer has been opened by the major of Munich, who also speaks the opening words for the Oktoberfest. We have not been to the Oktoberfest for the last 5 years and really have not missed anything. However, when we went last Saturday it was a lot of fun although we had an awful headache the next day!
