Franz Josef glacier closer

The Franz-Josef glacier is one of only 4 (I think) glaciers in the world that descend to temperate regions (i.e. from several 1000 m above sea level, to just 250 m above sea level). The other one is it's neighbour, Fox, and the other two found in Argentina. The FJ glacier is pretty spectacular from far away, and I should imagine it is mindblowingly stunning when viewed close up. I have been working non-stop since leaving university and last February I felt I had got to the point where I could buy a house and settle down or I could travel the world and mix-it-up globally...it was a tough decision. While I have travelled quite a bit with my job and on holiday (Europe and the US), I felt I had never really got out there and seen stuff.
