We left Port Douglas full of high expectations and bravado and we have not been disappointed - although the bravado did disappear somewhat at our first challenging creek crossing on the OTL (local buzz term for the Overland Telegraph Line). We are embarking on stage two of our trip around Oz, interrupted at end of 2006 by sale of house and work - yes work, how inconvenient. Having covered up the middle of Oz, down the west coast and back along the Nullabor to home, this time we are heading through outback NSW and Qld to get the Gulf (Karumba) then across the Savannah Way to Cairns where we leave the caravan and head up to Cape York using the roof-top tent (to avoid the crocs).
