Sun 30th Sept After yesterday´s energetic thrills decided to have a fairly quiet lazy day. Shared a taxi with the couple from Sao Paulo and journeyed inland - looked at sugar cane fields; they grow a lot of it here, not just for sugar (which they eat a lot of anyway) but for making alcohol for fuelling cars and drinking. Retired Headteacher of a London school, who, since the autumn of 2007 has travelled the countries of S. America - with the exception of the Guianas (Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana). The first trip began in September 2007 and covered Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru; it ended in mid December with two of those months spent in Brazil and Argentina - the two largest countries.
