Picture of castle from town wall. Look to the right and see the wall along the side. The old town, including our apartment, is entirely encircled. Edward's architect did quite a good job here. Welch never mounted a successful siege, fairly executed. In fact Edward was holed up here several months during one. We say never a successful siege, well one that was honest. The Welch did once impersonate workmen, were admitted, and then admitted fellow warriors who took the castle.

Made what Bird estimates to be our second longest drive yesterday (four hours in all including Costco) traveling from Stratford to Conwy in North Wales. Prime sights for us are medieval castles constructed by Edward I to subjugate the Welch, although there are other attractions, including a Roman Fort on the Irish Sea.
