Sigismund's Chapel

Katedra Wawelska - Wawel Cathedral. Sigismund's Chapel (Kaplica Zygmuntowska), with a gold dome. The Polish national cathedral and former coronation site of Polish monarchs. Construction of the current cathedral began in the 14th century. "Sigismund's Chapel (Zygmunt Chapel - Kaplica Zygmuntowska"), adjoining the southern wall of the cathedral, is one of the most notable pieces of architecture in Kraków and perhaps the purest example of Renaissance architecture outside Italy. Financed by Sigismund I the Old, it was built between 1517 and 1533 by Bartolommeo Berrecci". Historic Centre of Kraków. UNESCO World Heritage site inscribed in 1978. Monday morning would be a full day of sightseeing in and around Krakow, including Wawel Castle and the Old Town. Unlike other Polish cities, Krakow's buildings and monuments were not destroyed during World War II.
