Mauk'allaqta

At the end of the road, where the trail to the ruins starts, is this sign explaining three archeological sites in the area, with Mauk'allaqta being the one on the bottom left. The two paragraphs explain part of the legend of the Ayar brothers. The arrow at the bottom says "You are on the legendary road of the Ayar brothers."

Mauk'allaqta, also spelled several different ways, is a very well preserved and also recently uncovered and restored area. Only in the past 20 years have archeologists been uncovering the ruins and restoring some of the buildings. Nearby is another archeological site named Puma O’qro.
