We were told that they were built as severs but I have not been able to verify this.

Puebla Tunnels
The tunnels 500 years old or more? What peoples are they speculating built them? Surely the Mayans were done & dusted centuries before! I understand the Mayan civilisation commencing in about 2,000 BC had collapsed by the 8th & 9th Centuries.

Difficult to find information
I tried to pry out some information about the tunnels but came up with almost nothing. My best guess is that they were built when they laid out the first plans for the city. The city was founded in the early 16th century so that would make sence. But were the tunnels part of an underground defence system or sewers? I do not think they were mines and I find it unlikely that they were natural caves made into a tunnels. They were intentionally dug out for a for me as of now unknown purpose. /Ake
