Stripe-tailed hummingbird

Similar to the Violet Sabrewing, these hummingbirds live in the mountains and near the volcanoes. They grow to 9.5 centimeters and this one is also a male.

We started our trip up in the mountains, in the cloud forest at Monteverde. I had heard I could see nine species of hummingbirds in the cloud forest, and that was enough for me.
