Wednesday- Day Twelve Sailing from Busan South Korea to Tianjin China in the Korean strait and Yellow sea. 2am this morning our clocks went back an hour to get us back to China time, so at 7am I had run out of sleep and we were ready for breakfast before 8am.
We thought dining at Carmen's today would be nice with fresh pastries, tomato juice, omelets, and nice fruit on offer which is not available in the casual dining area. Little did we know we were to experience something akin to Fawlty Towers. 45 minute wait for cooked food, all without some ingredient we had ordered, and the waiter wiping his brow, looking harassed and finally telling us "the kitchen had fallen to pieces". Not sure what had happened but by 9-30am we gave up on some of the food and took off ice-skating for the last time.
Again we had the rink almost to ourselves, most of the people enjoying it are rank beginners, I look extremely competent.
TriBond trivia with a ESL activities officer who had no idea I think of what she was asking was a real challenge. No instructions,
dodgy pronunciation, and rapid delivery of the text. So basically you have to link three words or phrases with one common word......so link Elvis, Lion,Budweisser...... King of course......too easy? Try....tent, horseshoe,baseball.......pitch!! We got a sum total of 3.
Today we found the view into the bridge. On our first tour of the ship before we left Tianjin, we found it but, hadn't been able to find it since, it was off deck 11, of course right up the front.
BBQ lunch on the pool deck was smoked ribs, salad and rolls, an option we hadn't used before. 12 days on this ship and we really have only used the pool twice and the spa once, just not our thing. Some people are up there all day every day, brown as berries, and wrinkly as hell.
There is a massive amount of shopping on board with the middle of floor 5 devoted to shops, a coffee shop and 2 bars. So think jewelry, alcohol, clothes, makeup, designer label, with sales held often.
Martin bought a neck chain, 18ct gold. He got a free bracelet because of the amount he spent, so I was able
to choose what I wanted. He informed me that this is birthday, Christmas, and Mother's Day presents all in one. Hmmm mm!!
Tonight the final show in La Scala featured 2 female gymnasts who twirled hoops, fabric circles, and contorted, climbed and twirled, brilliant.
So this is the end of the cruise, awaiting me next week is work, house work and the real world. We have heard of one woman, who was on her 7th cruise this year, it was cheaper than living in a home but with better service. Another couple are on their 56th cruise, it's a cushy life if you have the money to pay for all the little touches.
