Meeting Kiwis in the Tasmanian Sea
Today was a sea day which everyone was ready for after two busy port days in Australia. We lost an hour on the clocks overnight and will lose another tonight to get to New Zealand time. After two sea days we’ll have a day of Scenic cruising in Milford Sound.
It was actually a busy work day for us starting out with Laundry which it was good we started earlier since it was very busy the rest of the day when we walked by. We had things in the dryers before we headed to mass at 8. After mass it was time for the daily Suduko and then updated the blog for Tasmania. I had a lot of trouble getting the photos downloaded so will try again today. All this before heading up to breakfast in the Lido.
Our afternoon started with trivia and then a lecture on Fire and Ice which was interrupted when it was our turn to report for New Zealand Customs and Immigration inspection. They are on board doing this by decks on the 2 sea days (i.e. a nice way for them to get a cruise). We
had filled out the paperwork and checked the boxes that we’d been in a forest and around animals because of the previous days tours. When we joined the line they asked if we had the shoes we’d been wearing on the tour which I didn’t. John had also bought something that had to be checked. So we had to go back and get them and then rejoined the line. Once in the room they had the line going thru several rows of chairs so it was almost like musical chairs as you sat and then got up and moved a few etc. My shoes passed inspection with no problem but they had to use a knife to get some suspicious seed off of John’s (which he was wearing). But we passed and returned to the lounge just in time to buy our Bingo cards. We didn’t win again thought I was only 1 number away on the Jackpot game but they called 53 instead of the 52 that I had.
It was then time to get ready for dinner where we joined a nice couple from Winnipeg. John had Seared Ahi with mango and avocado relish and I had
the Beef Tenderloin. It was another nice dinner. Then we headed to the show which was called Southern Nights with the ships cast. After the show we decided to try out the casino but not much luck there. (For Linda - They were looking for another player to buy into the Texas Hold’em tournament) So we headed up to the Crow’s Nest for Country Name that Tune. They had already started but we caught up quickly and got 14/15 on the main ones (should have had Sixteen Tons but we had said Big Bad John) but the bonus one thru us thought I did get the artist (Dixie Chicks) just not the song. So we came in 2nd which wasn’t too bad.
So that’s how these rough sea days go so we’ll try another one today.
