In our cabin
A lovely treat September 15, 1962-2012
Ok, so I weighed 87 pounds and Joe was about 135. Now I’m fighting to get down to 150 and Joe is struggling to maintain 155. So, I was a brunette with hair almost black and Joe’s hair was medium brown. Now I’m a blond and most of Joe’s hair is medium brown with touches of grey that Joe insists is blonde. What hasn’t changed is that we are still best friends and so grateful to be together.
Headed to the dining room for breakfast and was wished a Happy Anniversary by our dining room steward, a lovely start to the morning. The day was sunny but very breezy with fifteen-foot seas. The barf bags are by the elevator but I’m enjoying the movement and actually feel like we’re a sea. Today is just an R & R, go with the flow sort of day. At noon we attended the Mariner’s luncheon, then watched the poker tournament and headed back to the cabin for a read and nap.
We dined at the Pinnacle Grill and toasted each other with the Champaign from Bob and Beverly. Thank you again folks, it was lovely and the only

Meet their new feathered friends thing that would make it better is if you were here to share. The food was good but the service was abysmal. We weren’t in a hurry so it really didn’t matter but there really is no excuse for the endless waiting for the staff to clear the dirty plates. Finally we ordered cappuccino and were presented with a beautiful and delicious Happy Anniversary cake. We left half of it on the table it was so big.
After a stroll around the deck we went to our cabin and there was a small bottle of Piccolo, a dish of candies and two amazing towel swan and scattered rose petals on the bed.
It was a lovely restful day, not at all like the stress of our wedding day. As the day went on we commented on where we were fifty years ago; 10:00 am, riding in the limo with Bill Sabia as he told me how angry Monsignor Hayes would be because I was late (fire in the bridal shop and they had to go back for my slip). Finding out that the photographer was an industrial photographer and had to be told what pictures to take and

The gate also that he took all the pictures in black and white instead of color. Irritated that the white runner we had ordered was only long enough for half the aisle of St. Mary’s. But finally the ceremony was over and now what could possibly go wrong.
At first, nothing. Tessie and Al Stossel offered their hospitality for us and the photographer took more pictures. Then we were off to Binney Park for the outdoor shots. Did I mention it was 92 degrees and humid. It was then that the junior usher, my cousin, known from this minute on as Jimmy the Fink, informed me that he had to go play in the high school band. So sorry. Bye Bye.
The day progressed. Howard, my new brother-in –law was late with the seating arrangement so people just sat where the wanted, which turned out ok. There were still delivering the beverages when we arrived to it was up and over the tailgate for the wedding party. One of the guests made off with a case of champagne. And….I still am hearing stories about what happened after we left and the guests went on home.
Now we look back

Old town on our lives together and marvel at the wonderful times we have had and laugh at the minor disasters and miss so much those who are not with us now like our parents and Toddy and my uncles and aunts and Terry & Howard and Norma and Stephen. How lucky we were to have them in our lives.
Tomorrow back to Barcelona.
