not bad to wake up to this after 9 days of ocean
Waking up at cocos was like waking up in paradise, palm trees and coco nuts everywhere!

Got awoken up by the Federal police to check in, there where already 15 other yachts there. Out of them one other aussi, all the others where from Finland ,Holland , Germany and so on.

Police came on board to check our papers, strife was not all that happy about it and barked-. We were told dogs where not allowed on land , the majority of the population is Muslim and they dislike dogs. Not the end of the world they just have to deal with it

Anchored, dinghy off and land here we come. We anchored at direction island with all the other yachts , dinghy-ed over to home island to have a look whats there.

Where is everybody? streets were empty- it is friday- meaning its their Sunday , no wonder no one was about

650 Malays live on home island and on west island about 150 Australians. No drinking on home island , they got a club on west island.

A ferry takes you from home to west island, so to get

on the way from direction island to home island
from direction island to west island takes a whole day. Dinghy from the boat to home island, then catch the ferry to west , bus into town and back again. internet is was not the best out there, they got one public phone on home island which doesn't work! They have got a couple of shops, fruit and vegies are expensive, bananas 18$ per kilo, lucky we stocked up really well in carnavon

We ate heaps of coco nuts, they free and so yummy especially with rum. Met some fantastic people on their circumnavigation, even families with small kids. We went to the beach every night, having bbq s and drinking rum with coco nut milk. We learned so much from these guys, they all been on the ocean for 2-10 years since leaving their homeport, they all on there way to Africa.

The custom officer in carnarvon told us not to bring to much beer, since its duty free out at cocos Shame he did not tell us that the boat never came with beer on it, so they had a dry spell out there. Lucky mr Jim Beam was cheap, $30 for 1.25l!

We had 2 1/2 weeks out there, what a spot, absolutely beautiful
