Has a nice ring to it, yes? ..."Christmas in Culebra". 😉
We had decided in the summer months that we'd spend Christmas in Culebra. So when our friend Darren asked if he could visit for Xmas, we immediately told him to book a flight to Culebra, Puerto Rico!
Darren joined us for ten days over Xmas and New Years. We spent Christmas Day on the beach, ate way more pizza than planned, ate out, ate in, and experienced an amazing NYE party that you had to see to believe. The game of cribbage became a competition sport. The guys played numerous games in order to determine who was the cribbage champion. I'm not sure who took the title in the end.
The only thing we didn't get to do was take Darren sailing! The annual "Christmas Winds" were blowing too hard for us to get out of the harbour. Darren got to know Dewey, Culebra and Flamenco beach, quite well! 😉

December 24th, 2015 - Merry Christmas from the Crew of Inspiration!
Hello all and Merry Christmas!
When Tony asked me where I'd like to spend Christmas this year, I had several options. Realistically, I could chose anywhere between Puerto Rico and St. Maarten! Well, I chose Culebra. And I think Tony was happy that I said Culebra, because we both love it here, there's a great community, a town that technically has everything that we need, our "cost of living" here is low, and there's lot to do. But really, it just flows off the tongue well, “Christmas in Culebra!” Nice ring to it, eh?
Because we knew early where we were going to be, it made us an easy target for Darren, who was interested in visiting us this season. (Yes, he's visiting twice! Once for Xmas, and again in St. Maarten for Tony's birthday!) Darren just arrived today. Tomorrow, we'll spend Christmas Day at the Beach. Beautiful Flamenco Beach, of course!
As you probably remember, we don't do presents at Christmastime. In fact, the only decoration we have up actually stays up year-round: Our jingle bells. Actually, they are Tony's bells. For those of you who ever cooked in the EYC kitchen with Tony, these are the bells that he kept in his apron pocket. LOL. Anyways, with very little storage space, and already everything that we need, presents fell by the wayside a few years ago.
And anyways, even though our lifestyle out here is quite minimalistic, we think we are rich in so many other ways: love, health, family, friends…getting to live our dream.
I will work on the photoblog to get some pictures up soon and to fill you in on what we've been doing since we left Toronto. But for now, Tony and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and Happy New Year.
Love and Kisses,
