Jackson Bay home of Fiordland penguins reside here but not when we visited
Hi everyone just to update you on our travels We have been in quite remote areas, New Zealand has many of them considering the total population of both islands is 4 million people. We arrived in Christchurch which was quite a nice city very English lots of English names it varies to Scottish, Irish. They punt on the rivers as they do in Cambridge.
We have hired a campervan which will enable us to see a lot of the areas. They have shuttle buses in some areas not all, and there is not a train service as such, except the Trans Alpine which takes you through amazing scenery, but doesnt cover much of the country, a lot of travellers hitch hike not so handy if you are on a time scale?
We have explored the west Coast in the South Island we have seen glaciers which were amazing, the towns are very small like an alpine village as when skiing, we have seen the Southern Alps all snow capped and stunning not as vast as in Peru, we had a break in the weather so we were able to see this stunning scenery, the rivers are almost turquoise in colour, they are so beautiful.

We visited Lake Matheson pics attached we have never seen anything quite so stunning beautiful.
We are heading to Fiordland and Southland, we will visit Milford Sound where will take a boat trip, this is really the only way tp explore this landscape.
The weather is quite cold and has rained a lot but the west coast recieves 5 meters of rain annually, but we just have to make the most of our time here be in touch soon.
