Today Emily and I had an early start for our rescheduled bungy. I was super excited as I've been waiting the whole trip for this! It was a perfect day for it with clear blue skies! We got to the jump site and it all happened so quickly! We got harnessed up, reweighed to confirm our weight with all the equipment on. Then we were taking to a viewing platform where we got a nice view of the drop! We waited for everyone in our group, about 10 people and the n got a cable car across to the platform which was suspended in the air! Once there we sat on a glass seat and put all our other equipment on. Then within about two minutes the first guy had jumped. There was some glass floor bit so you could see him hanging under the platform. You had to jump in weight order so I had to wait until the end... it was good because I got to see everyone survive there jump but bad because I had to wait for so long and hear people scream! Emily had her turn and was a little nervous but I knew once she
jumped she would love it...which she did! When it was my turn I was really excited... the guy attaches the rope and helps you walk to the edge. You have to shuffle and it's quite hard to walk. You get a photo taken and then he counts down 5,4,3,2,1 Bungy.... for some reason you do just jump! I managed to pull off the swan dive which I was pleased with! When you first jump there is a weird feeling because you can't feel anything attached to you but soon the adrenalin kicks in and I LOVED it. I managed to release my feet after the second bounce which meant I was sitting up and got to admire the view. The only negative about the jump was that it was over so quickly! You could pay $60 to jump again but we weren't rich enough for that! After we got driven back to town, viewed our photos and video and met up with Alex, Alex and Becca for lunch. When we got back I had a little nap (2 hours ha) before getting ready to go out. It wasn't a big night out we just went to a couple of bars,
one with a live band which was good.
The next morning we were up early, we did a few jobs like laundry and stuff. At 2 our friend Hugh came to knock for us and we went to Fergburger with people from our bus. The burgers were so big! It was really nice but we made the error of ordering chips with it and couldn't move after we had eaten it. That night we went out which was fun, I won a free kayaking trip in a scavenger hunt but didn't get a chance to use it before we left Queenstown. The next morning we had a chilled day, went to the supermarket and made a nice lunch, the weather wasn't great so we didn't do lots. The next day was more productive, we went for another Fergburger because we had to have one before we left Queenstown and then we went up the Cable car to a viewpoint. It was such a beautiful view, Queenstown is very pretty like most of New Zealand. We walked around for a while at the top and enjoyed the sunshine. In the evening Struan, our friend from the bus came round and
cooked us a meal because he's a chef which was nice 😊 We went out for our last night in Queenstown (it definitely is a party town).
The next morning we had an early start and had a tense time waiting to see if Alex, Alex and Georgina were going to get on the bus because they were on standby. Thankfully they got on and we drove to a place called Lake Pukaki where you can see Mount Cook- it was stunning! Then we arrived in Lake Tekapo which was our stop for the night. We had some lunch and chatted to some new people on our bus. After we ended up hanging out with our bus driver Jared for a bit and played innuendo bingo- if you don't know the game it's on radio 1! It was hilarious but we were all soaking. After dinner we watched a bit of Flubber then as we were going back to our room Jared told us he was going to watch Bridesmaids so we went and watched that before bed. In the morning we got our final bus on the Kiwi Ex to Christchurch 😞 We stopped in a place called
Geraldine and had lunch. When we arrived in Christchurch it was very strange as it hasn't really been re-built since the earthquake in 2011. Apparently no surveyors will sign off the buildings as safe to enter so they can't be rebuilt yet and there is some debate about what to do with the buildings. Jared said that the building work was just beginning to take off- which we could see as there was construction stuff everywhere. Even our hostel had scaffolding up- it was safe to stay in though! Our rooms were nice and had electric blankets which was a treat! Emily went to meet her Auntie so the rest of us got pizza and watched films. The next morning we woke up at about 12 and then went to have a look around town. We visited the 'start up' malls which are shipping containers that are now shops. We had a look round them all and found a shop selling English snacks- I had my first pack of hula hoops in 3 months! Then we got a tea in a cafe as it wasn't a very warm day. In the evening Alex, Georgina and I had a bit of
a girly eve. doing our nails and stuff. There aren't really any bars or anywhere to go out in Christchurch but after Queenstown it was quite nice to just chill out.
