I’m back to the adventure the capital of the world, the one and only Queenstown!!! After a lovely relaxing morning getting over a hangover from our last night in Wanaka, we jumped on the bus for a short bus journey through the mountains and arrived in Queenstown early afternoon. Yet again we have been so fortunate with the weather and as soon as we arrived here we wondered through the town but sight seeing didn’t last long before we heard some live music in the park so decided that it was such a beautiful day that it would be rude not to get a few cold ones and go and sit in the park with all the other people.
Now Queenstown is made famous for 2 things, one of which is its endless supply of crazy activities (this is where I did my canyon swing and jet boasting last time) and number 2 for having a great night life and a big drinking scene, so I already knew that it was going to be a heavy couple of days, especially as all my friends pleaded for me to stay on to St Patrick’s day and join them in the celebrations.
So I extended my stay from 2 to 4 days in the end which I didn’t mind at all as the past few weeks have been the most amazing time and defiantly the best few weeks so far in New Zealand, I have really got that love of travelling and meeting new people like I had back in Australia.
So really for the next few days I hung out with Rowan, Fiona, Helen and Mikey relaxing during the day and drinking in the evening. It’s incredible how many people you get to meet because when Rowan and I started walking around town me must have bumped into around 15 other people that we knew, so with everyone we kept bumping into we agreed to meet them later at Buffalo bar and by the time we got there later that evening there must have been around 30 people from the magic bus, it was great and such a good atmosphere, everyone chatting to everyone and having a good laugh especially when it was 2 for 1 on all drinks!!!! Nothing makes a better night than having a huge group of people to drink and laugh with!
After we had
had enough of Buffalo’s we headed to World bar which is known for its teapot shots! As you will be able to see they make up a cocktail and then tip it into a teapot, you are then given the teapot with the shot glass, where you are then able to pour your own shot and drink through your teapot at leisure!! Great experience and very funny but I still prefer my pints of beer!
One of the days here we did manage to find the most amazing crazy golf course ever!! So all 5 of us had to go and have a round, it was an 18 hole golf course but unlike any other I have ever seen before. Each hole had it’s own theme, whether it was an airport, a space station, a volcano or a castle. Each one was its own technical section like either getting your ball up and onto a ski-lift or through the space station which sets of the rocket or through a maze where your ball could come out of various different holes depending on your luck. This gave us hours of entertainment and is going to take some beating in the
Me and my boob Balloons
Ok you would have found it this funny as well if you'd been drink for 12 hours! world of crazy golf!
This was the morning of St Patrick’s day so having had all the excitement of the crazy golf to start the day we all headed off to Winnies bar by 3pm to go sit in the sun and start our celebrations. I’m not sure if you are aware but St Patricks day over here is big - like Christmas big! everyone is dressed up in green and wearing funny costumes and all in the bar from the middle of the day!! So after a few beers here we then moved to the Irish pub called the Pig and Whistle where everyone was defiantly getting into the spirit of things. It didn’t take me long before I had my face painted (yes I know the flag is the wrong way around, he was pissed as hell when he did it!) and a green t-shirt on, this all helped me to feel more part of the crowd.
It ended up being an absolutely great night, one of the best I have had in ages, we all got absolutely smashed and drinking till the early hours of the morning till I found it incredible funny walking around
Helan and Me
Starting to get my pissed smile! with 2 huge balloons under my T-shirt - I have a bad feeling I was doing this for quite a while but I blame it on the shotski’s we were doing. A shot-ski is where a specially prepared ski is placed on the bar and 4 holes have been made in it to fit shot glasses, the shot glasses were then filled with jaegermeister and all 4 of us had to pick up the ski and drink the shots from the ski at the same time without spilling it.
After doing quite a few of these the night did go a bit of a blur, but from what I can remember I had an awesome time, expect when the bouncer chucked me out for being too drunk (spoilsport). By the morning I had no voice left as I think I must have spoke to everyone in the bar at some point or another, I do remember speaking to all these random people as well as seeing the pictures from other people and thinking I don’t remember them!
But the funniest bit of the whole night had to be Rowan’s escapade, where he ‘fell’ in to the lake!! It was
about 3am and he and Fiona were sitting on the wall by the lake, now he thought he was on the same wall that all of us had been sat on earlier which has a 3 foot drop on to a beach the other side. But the wall he was sat on wasn’t that wall but instead the other side was 8-9 foot drop straight into the lake! As he was sat there chatting to Fiona and before she could stop him he swung he legs around and jumped down, with a huge splash he was chest deep in freezing cold water. He then had to swim along to the staircase to climb out. It was really dangerous and he could have severely injured himself but luckily he didn’t, although he did have his camera and phone in his pocket at the time.
I laughed about this for days afterwards it was so funny, I just wish I had been there to see his face and the sudden realization of landing in the lake instead of on a beach ha ha!!!!!!
Other than drinking and hanging out with the others I really didn’t do much at all, It doesn’t
sound that exciting for you reading this but it really was a great couple days and thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Queenstown, Being with the other four was great and I have made some very good friends that I hope to see again in the future but same as many times before I now had to leave here and once again be back by myself on the search for new adventures and new friends!
