It must have snowed the night before as the snow was fresh. It was very icy, slightly slippy to walk on, you had to dig your feet in!
This has been the longest time between blogs but we have a good excuse - the wedding!

On behalf of my husband and I.........

We were so excited to pick the family Dominick up from the airport last Tues, Arran is getting so big, not to mention cute, cute cute. We spent the night in Christchurch and had take away and beers in our room - we had friends again - yeah.

Hit the road early on Wed morning for Mount Cook after the wedding cake and flowers were delivered. Had the cake on my knee the whole trip but it survived thankfully. Made stops at Fairlie (for make up trial) and Lake Tekapo (for hair trial). Wow - Lake Tekapo and Lake Pukaki that we passed were amazing. They are both the most amazing blue colour - it doesn't look real but we found out later that its because they are glacier lakes and the sediment from the glacier lies just under the surface of the water and causes the reflection from the sky to produce that result.

Mount Cook itself is jaw dropping and since we had been upgraded to a top floor superior suite

The glare of the snow required sun glasses.
(check us out :-)) we got a postcard view of it. On the morning of the wedding we had an early start as the hair and makeup women were coming at 7am! Weather reports were looking good for us getting to fly to where we want but it can change in a second and the day before was really windy so we were a bit worried. Turned out we were lucky, the helicopter flight was great, we had seats up front and is kinda like being suspended in mid air inside a glass bulb since you soon realise that there is little between you and outside! Got landed on Liebig Dome (7,800 ft - higher than any point in the UK) and had our ceremony and photos (we have put a couple on but will add the prof ones to a separate blog in a week or so) up there. Thankfully neither of us got cold feet and had to jump off the mountain!! The meal at night was yummy as well so all in had the most perfect day ever.

The next day we all headed through to Oamaru. Fiona had been before and recommended that we all

We tried to have photos taken without sunnies, but it wasn't easy!!
go cause we can watch penguins in their natural habitat. We went on the first night to see the yellow eyed ones and managed to see two and some seals. The next day we went to the Moeraki boulders which is a series of perfectly round boulders that have been formed from the rock edge and now sit on the beach. We also visited the Victorian part of Oamaru and at night went to see the blue penguins. They were so cool, there is basically a sanctuary which has a seating stand that you can sit and watch the blue penguins come ashore after dark. They use orange lighting as orange isn't in their colour spectrum so they just think it is dark!! They are the smallest variety of penguins but we saw 177 come ashore - excellent. Sadly there are no photos as you weren't allowed your camera.

We drove back to Christchurch the next day as Fiona, Arthur and Arran had to get their flight back home - sob :-( Arran is the best baby in the world, he hardly cried the whole time and think he was lovin my silliness to try to make him laugh

Russ had a strange sinking feeling.
- hee hee! We spent the night there and took a flight to Queenstown the next day............

Hope all is well back home, wish that so many of you could have been at the wedding but we promise the photos will be as good as.

Lots of love
The Broons xxxx

Hi Auntie Margo, thanks. It was -2 degrees and our hands were pretty cold so had a bit of trouble signing the certificate! Other than that it was fine, prob the adrenalin! On a roadtrip at the moment from south to north of the south island and then heading to Wellington. Being very safe. Give our love to Uncle Charlie and the boys. Hope all is well at home xxx
