We survived the ferry from Wellington to Picton. The water was calm, thank goodness. Sometimes that waterway gets up to 8 meter swells, so we were lucky!
We spent the night in Blenheim with Gonzalo at the backpackers in town. There were people from all over the world. It was so much fun and brought me back right back to the good old days in South America. We ate Thai food with Gonzalo, again, and ran around town with a bunch of people from Brazil and Israel. Good times.
This morning we drove from Blenheim through the mountains, through to Greymouth and finally settled down here in Hokitika. We are leaving early in the morning to find the glaciers and hike them, then we are off to Wanaka for some more skiing. Again, we can't post any pictures! We have taken so many in the last few days, but every computer we have used since will not let us transfer the images to get them on the website. Oh well, we will try every day. The south island is much more rural, with 25% or less of NZ's entire population living here. The mountains just keep getting taller the further south we go, and soon we will be on them! We are cramming most of the south island into less than two weeks! It makes it more exciting.
Also, the bar at the Burrowing Bullie is scheduled to open on the 15th!

You
Hi! What are the backpacker's places like in NZ? Can't wait to see the pictures. Wish I could ski in the mountains with you and am very glad I'm not going to Bunji jump! Love you, Mom
