The weather overcast so we enquired about helicopter trips up the glacier but none flying today so we booked for tomorrow. Instead we walked in the valley below the glacier. First a short walk to the top of Sentinel Rock from which there is a good view of the glacier from below. Then we did a walk towards the glacier base and a walk past a wonderful little lake in which the glacier was reflected in the still waters. On this walk we crossed a pedestrian suspension bridge over the melt water from the glacier. From the bridge we saw a wild deer. The final walk was a fairly steep walk through a dense forest of lichen and moss covered trees to a glacial lake called Lake Wombat. We saw only one other person on this walk.
