Sky Train to Vancouver
9 hour layover so why not visit Vancouver 67 F&^%*&% hours after arriving at Ottawa airport we finally get to our final stop before biking. Mind you the final stop of our transit is now in Balclutha. Where the hell is Balclutha???
Let's backtrack shall we? The flight started normal enough...we specifically asked if our bike and checked bag would be at Dunedin when we arrived or if we had to pick it up along the way...."No...", we were assured..."they will be there waiting for you." Sweet! On to Vancouver. We had a 9 hour lay-over and used the time to visit Granville Island and had an excellent meal. Then back to the airport for our wonderful 14-hour flight....whew!
On Sunday morning 0530 we arrived in Dunedin. No bike....no bag. We were told we were supposed to have picked them up in Auckland. Damn that lady in Ottawa....bad information. The bike was being held by Agriculture in Auckland and we were not to receive it until the next day. Are you f&*king kidding me!!! So we waited....and waited. After staying in Mosgeil that night we returned to Dunedin airport and recieved our bike and bag later that evening. Remember we mentioned Balclutha? This is where
Sandbar
Cavell at Sandbar Restaurant on Granville Island we ended up after being stranded in Dunedin....the staff took pity on us and drove us otherwise we would have had to bike as far as we could and camped for the night.
Off to a good start. We now have crossed off visiting Dunedin and our second destination Surat Bay (Owaka) to see the penguins. At least we are not at the airport anymore.
