sorry everyone, Travelblog crashed reciently and lost the text information for this blog. Luckly the pictures were saved. Until we recover the text, you might have to just browse the pictures for now and guess at where we were and what we were doing. (the pictures are the good part anyway)

This church sits on a point just at the southern end of Lake Tekapo (pronounced like peek-a-boo)

In western Canturbury. The water is that color because it drains the glaciers that tumble down the eastern side of the Alps. The glaciers grind the rock as they move and create "rock flour" that is suspended in the water, and makes it that amazing turquoise color.

heading west from Hanmer across the mountains towards the west coast. This is not far from our disasterous incounter with the sandflys at the Sylvia flats hot springs.

On the way to Nelson. I just learned that a guy who used to work at the place I do now (watercooled sports) goes over these falls in his kayak.

Our host Mike (as well as the water taxi guy) said they have never seen so many jellyfish. Thankfully they are completely harmless.

yeah yeah yeah
sandflies, freezing water, jellyfish, I don't know how you can stand living there. As I write, we are into Hour 12 of a Noreaster that has flooded half of NJ. ahem, So..the..visit..with..parents...went...well? Rob -- visited our alma mater last week on college tour. My outstanding impressions were the bowling machine is gone from Holley's and they serve sushi in the student center. keep blogging
