Away late today, the last full day in the camper van. It is an overcast day and we have showers on the way down to Christchurch. We have decided to stay in Christchurch on Friday evening so we wont have too much time travelling when we return the camper van on Saturday.
We check in at the “top ten” site just north of the city. As we check-in, there are not just holidaymakers on the site, but some of the workers that are helping with the Earthquake work in the city centre. The workers come back in the evenings looking exhausted and the first thing after a shower is a beer - must be a hell of a job.
There are warnings at the site to boil water before drinking and to use water sparingly. Also to use the toilets i your camper van as opposed to the site facilities to ease the load on the cities sewerage system that is in danger of total collapse

We went to eat at a local bar & grill in the evening, pretty uneventful, apart from a guy that was sitting next to us, he was bald, wearing a shirt and jacket, a skirt and stiletto heels and carried an handbag - looked like he could not decide which side he was batting for!!

We had a good meal and made our way back to the campsite
