I have managed to get quite far, up to Abel Tasman National Park, one of my reasons as well as to see as much as I could, was to try and go salmon fishing. However the morning weather did not look so good, so I thought I would go as far as North as I can this day and then on the way back I will stop in Takaka to go fishing. There are a few things I wanted to see along the way - the Pupu springs - worlds clearest springs, Devil’s table, which later on turns into boots…Also I went to see Harwoods Hole -biggest cave in the southern hemisphere, it is 400m deep and 70m wide with 183 vertical drop - cool. Mind you the road there looked like road to hell, one things was for sure I was rather happy that I did not meet any cars on the way there…the morning sun shining through the trees, fresh air, peaceful… all I heard was birds singing… bit later the rain come back but that did not bother me at all, I was in nature…the way to the Hole was nice easy walk, through ‘Green Stone Valley’, the
Hole itself was very impressive, not that you can really see at the bottom of it, ‘echo echo’.. hello hello…. cool….you can shout and all you hear is echo of your own voice and the pigeon or any other bird that decides to fly close and even little bird sound like a massive one.
On the way up to Cape Farewell I gave a lift to Sara (Swiss) and Taylor (Yank), they wanted to go same way as I did, but they wanted me to leave them at the Cape Farewell, which I have to admire as there was nothing there, windy like hell and God only knows when the next car will be coming, it was starting to get a bit late, all I could do was to ask whether they were sure…
On the way back I managed to find the Devils dining table, which I missed on the way up and found out it is not called Devils dinning table, but boots, which looked more appropriate when I saw what they meant.
I was back down to Takaka, and needed to find somewhere to sleep for the night before I went fishing…. as I
was passing a bridge I saw some campervans parked along the river, so I pulled in and it looked like a free camp site… sweet as… but I did not fancy parking Alfred with the others so I parked under the bridge… well I have not slept under a bridge yet, however once I had parked Alfred and went along the river I found an even better spot , more secluded with ohniste.
Really early morning I got woken up by the fisherman pulling up next to Alfred and by the time I had managed to get myself up and out the van, there were heaps and heaps of fishermen, so early so cold… crazy… at least the weather looked great… sun was out..
…Fishie.. fishie….
… you would have to be a cripple not to catch a fish, .. I had the feeling that it would be like that… pond full of Salmon, as I took the fishing rod and walk along it I could see so many fish and knew it would not be much of a challenge…. first cast… not so good, second one got caught on a tree and third one …a1kg salmon on the end
of it…. I had to kill it … ‘stab into head’… sorry fishie… had half of it smoked and other half fresh… lovely.. yum, yum..
From Takaka I started making my way down towards Fox Glacier… I had to stop at the longest swing bridge in NZ and did superwoman across it, it was not as bad as I thought, even though I swore, the worst was the initial jump of the edge… I’m flying….
..rybicky ..rybicky..
an ass
not mine my one is bigger :O) si prut a kdyz jsem videla ty hejna a hejna ryb, bylo me to hned jasne, ze me jen tak jedna neutece…prvni nahoz nebyl velmi dobry, druhy se me zachytl o strom no a do tretice… 1kg losos byl vysledek.
