New Zealand - North Island
Sally getting ready for the glazier After leaveing the south island we got the ferry across to the north island. We landed in Wellington and had a little look around as this was the 1st big city we had seen in weeks. We stayed here for a few nights then decided to leave as there wasnt much to see and do here. We headed north up the middle of the island untill we hit a place called Lake Taupo. The drive was one of the best we had done for the veiws. We decided to do a skydive here because we read in our guide book it was the best and cheapest place in the world to do one. We went into the airport to book the dive but because of the weather they wernt running any for the next few days. Becuase we only had 2 weeks to see the whole of the north island we couldnt wait around for the weather to get better so we decided after waiting for 2 days we would leave. We were gutted we wouldnt get to do a dive as we was both really looking forward to doing it.
We headed off towards the east coast to
New Zealand - North Island
Neil getting ready for the glazier a place called Rotorua because this was on the side of a big lake the views were really nice. We had a look around Rotorua and at some of the weird activities it had to offer. There was one thing called zorbing were you sit inside big blown up ball and water gets put in with you then they roll you down the side of a hill. We give this a miss as it was cold enough but it looked good, maybe if the weather was a bit better we would of done it.
After Rotorua we headed to a place called Tauranga because we got told it had lots and rare widelife and penguins roaming around the beaches. When we got there the weather was still crap and we didnt get to see any wildlife at all, we spent the night on the beach and decided to leave the next day. When we woke up the weather had changed and it was blue skies all around and we were only 2 hours away from Taupo so we rang the skidive company up and they said they were running today as long as the weather stays the way it
was. We set straight off heading for taupo and an hour into the drive back the skies started to get cloudy again. We carryed on anyway hopeing it would clear up by the time we got back to Taupo. We rang the company when we arrived back in Taupo and they told us they had stoped the dives due to weather again but we could ring back in 15 minutes to see if we could go. We decided to drive to the airport and wait in the office just in case we could go up on the off chance. When we arrived in the airport it was all systems go and we got told we could go up and do the dive. We were rushed into the back of the hanger and fitted with the jump suits and harnes. We met with our jump buddies and off we went, within 5 minutes of arriving at the airport we were bording the plane and getting told to bend into the shape of a banana when throwing yourself of the edge. Sallys jump buddie couldnt even speak that much english which filled her with loads of confidence and he was late comeing
back from where ever he had just been and sally even seen him going around the parachuttes cheaking which ones would be ok so by now sally was shitting her undies haha. Sally finaly made it onto the plane last after us waiting 5 minutes for her and her buddie to get sorted.
The plane took off and after 25 minutes the lights on the plane started flashing that meant we were at that time. Sally was the 1st out which was the worst one haha. I was last out so i got to see everyone go before me craping themselfs. Anyhow everyone got back in one peice safe and sound and we got a video of us gettin prepared and taking off in the plane which was good and it got us landing.
After Taupo we headed straight to Auckland to finish up in New Zealand and spent the last week there. We just lazed about and went the swimming baths everyday for a sauna and steam before our 12 hour flight to LA.
Well were home in 2 days so we will see everyone then, This is the last blog of our trip and if
