Lovely town; had lunch with two local lades who were a hoot and wanted to take us home with them. Without exception we found Kiwis to be friendly and gracious, and some were quite amusing.

Freedom Camping

There are so many towns along the NZ coast and almost all of them have these parking areas for Freedom Campers. There was an ablution block just out of the shot; you had to be totally self-contained, no tents

We loved this little town and stayed 3 days - great restaurants and within short distance to many other important tourist sites

The 'road' between our lodge and the ocean was pedestrian only, lined with hotels, shops and restaurants; just delightful.

Boom Netting

Our Bay of Islands Cruise included Boom Netting at the end. After people jumped into the net, the boat zoomed off to give them a rumble/tumble thrill ride

At the top of the North Island this cape is just stunningly beautiful and we had a clear, sunny day

Sand Dune Surfing

Our last event of our Cape Reinga tour was to sand dune surf. So sorry this site doesn't allow videos as they are a hoot.

A famous Austrian architect, Hundretwasser, designed these public toilets in the town of Kerikeri

Only stone store from 1800 to left, another old house, and on right a café whee we had a lovely lunch

After lunch in Kerikeri we went to the nearby Rainbow Falls
