The beginning of the walkThe beginning of the walkThe beginning of the walk

See, we're happy! :D
Hello from Wellington!

Collette and Bruces house is fantastic! They don't live in Wellington but in the hills outside the city, in a place called pukerua bay. (i think thats how you spell it). The views are gorgeous. As is their dog, Diesel. 😊

Anyway, our first day we went for a walk. We were 'reliably' informed that it would take us about 2hours. We don't think we walk slow and even with the detours and rest stops a 2 hour walk cannot turn into a 6hour walk. So there. It was nice though...Once we actually got down to the beach which in itself was a dangerous, life threatening experience. Not that I'm exaggerating...It was just a dry, narrow, slippy path with a very long steep drop. It was our first properly nice day, as in the sun was out, it didn't rain and wasn't that windy. The beach path was really rocky...or treey, depending where we were up to. after a few hours we found a random house thing made out of gingerbread...i mean two big rocks and various bits of tree. We didnt make up a story about a cannibalistic zombie troll, and its various victims, coz

You can't tell from this angle, but it was very steep and very dangerous...not that I'm trying to worry you or anything...
we aren't that childish. 😊
But yeh, we managed to arrive safely at the next town without being eaten by the vicious cannibalistic zombie troll or his minions.

On sunday, after we had recovered from our very strenuous excursion, Collette took us, along with Aimee, to the Te Papa museum. It has a huge map on the floor that lights up!!!! The Chocolate cake at the cafe was really nice too! yum. On monday we ventured out into the city on our own. We wandered around and found a park...again, we arent childish and didn't spend about half an hour playing on the swings. We went on the cable car to the botanical gardens. We were a little early in the season so there werent many flowers out...and it wasnt that nice a day but it used up some time.

Today we Just sat around and watched films. We have a good excuse! It was raining! Can't go out in the rain, we'll melt.

Our menu for the past few days goes thus...

So we've eaten very well...through no fault of our own. All Collettes doing, despite her protests that she isn't Nigella. So we've been fed up and should be able to survive the coming weeks without food. Tomorrow we move on to Picton and the south island.
