After leaving Taupo we went to Hawke Bay and the surrounding area of Napier, Hasting and Havelock North. Susan was expecting us to arrive so we found her hard at work at Cape Physio. Mhairi and Susan were so happy to see each other.

We headed up to Susan’s house and met her housemates and have dinner.

On Friday we walked up to Te Mata peak and had wonderful views of the surrounding area, the rest of the day was spent in Napier and Hastings looking around the towns and seeing where Susan now spends her time.

On Saturday we headed out in the morning to Ocean Beach this is a great spot as there is one road to it and you would never find it without the local knowledge of Susan!

After we had been there we went to the first of our wine tasting, We started at Craggy Wineries they are in a huge vineyard which has a restaurant attached which is the 13th best winery restaurant in the world needless to say we did not eat there but we did try the wines which were great.

After here we went to the Te

Mata cheese café and sampled some cheese this was then followed by us then going to Black Barn and Te Mata wineries. All the wineries were lovely and the best wine had to be the Craggy estate so look out for that at home in M+S.

Saturday was a huge day in Hawke Bay as the races were in town and the quiet town of Havelock North was so busy that night with people partying naturally we decided that we should make a evening of our day. We started the partying early in the house and continued until the wee hours.

Sunday was the clean up and lazing around day with Mhairi and I preparing to go to Wellington on Monday.

We are leaving Tuesday 9th October to go to the South Island so we will update when can.
