We went to the Zorb centre with arguments in the car from Ellie about who was going to do what in what Zorb ball etc.
We went in to the reception area to find out what the damage would be and what was on offer. We were told that they were only doing water ones and that the kids ball had been wrecked by some kids recently and they couldn’t afford to fix it. Not that Aisha wanted to have a go. We watched a couple come down and I was still not entirely convinced. It then very kindly started to rain. We had already been given some discount vouchers so paid $44 each and got changed in to clothes to get wet in. You then get taken up the hill in a van to a platform. The Zorb itself is a ball within a larger ball which they fill with about 5 litres of warm water. The entry hole is half a metre in diameter which you have to a running superman dive to get through in to the ball itself. The guy then explains that when he hit’s the outside of the ball that you should walk forward, to
get ball rolling, and then get ready for some fun. He then zips the door shut and leaves you. At this point I was still unconvinced that it was a good idea, but hey I will do anything to keep my children happy. Ellie was so excited that she was getting to ride with daddy in a big rubber filled with water down a hill. I was thinking I paid money for this am I mad!!!
There was another guy in the other ball so we had to wait for a few minutes before we went. I am so glad that the ball we were in was translucent as we were 200 metres up a hill in a big rubber ball filled with warm water. I know that I keep writing this, but you, the reader, are sitting in a warm room probably with a cup of tea, not realising the panic going through my poor little brain. All this, with Ellie beside me jumping up and down like a rabid jack russell that doesn’t know what to do with itself.
Then bang, bang on the side of the ball. The bar holding the Zorb was removed and we had
to walk in to the abyss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well after all the panic and worry I don’t know what the problem was. As soon as the thing started to move we were thrown all over. The water acts as a lubricant and you slip and slide all over the place. I was struggling to breathe because I was laughing so much and Ellie was screaming with hilarity. As with all fun stuff it was all over far too quickly. The door was unzipped and someone was asking if we had enjoyed ourselves. I was struggling to talk as I was still laughing. Without thought we got out of our nice warm cocoon in to cold spitting rain. With a girl telling us to jump up and down for photo’s. Which you can buy on a CD for $25. Chloe said afterwards that she could hear Ellie screaming all the way down.
I cannot stress how much everyone should do this at least once in their lives. It is IMMENSE amount of fun and probably the most amount of fun I have had with my clothes on, well not quite but I think you get the drift. I don’t care what it
Aisha & Chloe
In the Cable car cost if it is available near where you live go and do it, believe me you will not regret it.
We then turned around to go back towards town to have a go on the skylines skyride. Unfortunately the rain had got a lot worse so we decided not to pay the $80 for a family ticket just to get soggy again. Aisha was, to put it mildly, a little put out by this. Mainly because she is too small or too scared to go on most stuff.
We went in to town and found a lovely motel that had a Jacuzzi in the rear courtyard. The unit was the largest that we have been in so far. The girls had a bath in the Jacuzzi. We couldn’t get them back out. Sat inside all we could hear were shrieks and giggles as they kept turning the bubbles on and off.
We then went in to the centre of town to the pheasant plucker, a fake English pub, and had roast dinner with the largest Yorkshire puddings we have ever seen.
The next morning we went to the skylines. It is a cable car that goes up
Ellie & Russ
In the cable car the side of the hill that over looks the lake. Also there is three luge tracks that total 5 km’s. We had bought a family package that gives you a ride up and back down the hill on the cable car and six goes down the luge tracks. To get you used to the tracks and the go karts your first go down has to be on the scenic/beginners track which is 2 km long. The go karts have handlebars that are used to steer like a normal bike and the you pull back to slow and stop. We decided that to get the best use out of the 6 goes on the tracks Aisha should travel with Chloe or me and then we could all go down twice. After having been down once this was a good decision as Ellie had a few difficulties on the first run. Basically she ended up going off of the track in to the trees and the when she got back on the track there was loads of leaves and stuff underneath the kart which prevented it from moving. Aisha went down with Chloe. When we all got to the bottom Chloe didn’t
like Aisha being on with her as she found it very difficult because Aisha kept pulling back on the bars and slowing them down. There is a chair lift to get back up the hill.
When we got back to the top for our second run everyone wanted to go on the intermediate track. Mainly because we could see all the people going down it when we came back up on the chair lift.
Aisha came with me and we went first. Aisha kept telling me to go faster, so who am I to stop my kids from having fun? It was great and a lot faster than the starter track. There were two sections where you come round a corner then go down a very steep bit. Aisha and I didn’t go that fast down the first one but I was encouraged to go down the second one a lot faster. When Aisha and I got to the bottom she said that she wanted to go again and where were mummy and Ellie. We waited and waited then we waited a bit more. Then finally they arrived. Ellie hadn’t completely got the hang of the go kart so Chloe
kept behind her to make sure that she was ok. You have to go back up the chair lift to go back down on the main cable cars. Aisha complained the whole way that she wanted to have another go.
