Karl watching TV in our room on Friday night in ACB - before ACB manager came along and moved us that is :(
SAT - good to be back in Auckland. did usual auckland sat stuff, bought essentials, messed on with karl, had our rooms messed about by ACB (again, as usual) and internetted til my head hurt uploading pics for you lot to have a look at 😊
SUN - another nicely relaxing Auckland day, went to Albert Park and ate sushi in the sun 😊 internet, photos etc. Kate's half birthday today (yes she celebrates it) so we went to the cinema to see Yesman - very funny - me and karl paid for half her ticket each as a half prezzie...
team - Jenny (leader)me, kate, karl, sophie, jack 19 cornwall, yung 41 korea and yarn 22 korea
MON - to the office in the morning, got a package from my best girlfriend at home containing cadburys chocolate!!!! (good call scotty :D thank you). shopping was sweet as on the way, jenny decided that plums, nectarines, rice pudding and chocolate crispies were a necessity on the budget :D oh we will eat well this week :D last week in Hunua 😞 had monday off as was an auckland holiday - auckland anniversary weekend or something like that -
Hunua Falls picture frame
so we went and sat in the river along from the falls for an hour or so in the sun, very relaxing 😊
TUES - half hour more sleep today 😊 ranger john decided we should start work later 😊 cleared Massey track up to the lookout, i bent down to put my shirt in my bag and promptly get a heavy nosebleed for 45mins, so a long break before real work starts...going well so far! we walked up to the gravel pile we thought we were working from and waited for the rangers for about 40mins until we decided we should walk to the next one, where we found them...they had been working there for a good half hour, oops! spent the next hour or so shovelling gravel into the power carrier (electric whelbarrow), after lunch me and Sophie took over raking the gravel on the path, a nicer, easier job, south island has made me lazy! finsihed early and walked to the kauri grove to show the others the kauris, sat down and my nose decided it had fun this morning so would give me another 45min heavy nosebleed, oh joy! ran out of tissues so had
where we relaxed on Monday
to resort to bandage from the first aid kit! got back to the house and felt really faint so had lots of sugary stuff - the cadburys came in useful too!! - and yuchy sugary tea 😞 jenny made choc crispies in the evening after food, yummy! yung and yarn gave us all postcards from korea, i go tyarn to write on the back of mine in korean, so pretty, its a shame our writing isnt so!
WEDS - had an hour more in bed today!! did baitlines, but only one! I took Sophie and Yung around Titoki and Matai tracks, very cautious of wasps afetr the last time we did baitlines in Hunua, luckily we didnt come across any. had about 1.5 hrs for lunch then in the afternoon we checked the stoat traps on massey trtack, caught 5 rats! good that we caught them, but bad that they were there to be caught as it means they are coming into the 'safezone' of hunua. yung and yarn cooked a korean stirfry tonight but im not sure how veggie it was...hmmm, had rice pudding for dessert! sooo goood!
THURS - went to Omana today (i will live
looks like cat food, tatses alot better!
here at some point in my life!), beautiful coastal park, stunning drive there, typical NZ coastal road, pohutakawa hanging over the road and the sea 😊 they didnt really have many jobs for us there so we ended up doing a litter pick, was fun, i had sophie and yung again and we swept the playpark (also had a 10min play as 10 mins wasnt enough time to do the last part thoroughly so under my good judgement we played instead, id prefer not to do a job at all than do a shoddy job of it!! i like my logic). after a leisurely lunch we rolled up fence - bit dodgy as the wire kept pinging out, safety glasses at the ready! got a bruise on my arm where the wire whipped me! after rolling the fence up we loaded up the trailer with tree and that was that. had curry for tea that jack and sophie cooked, one of the best curries i have had during cvnz! then stewed apples and sultanas with hokey pokey icecream for pud! oh we ate goood this week :D
FRI - Omana in the morning again today, went through a patch
Hokey Pokey and Pokey Hokey (knitted by Kate)
of Manuka bush killing wooly nightshade (aka tobacco plant) and moth plant - apparantly cannabis grew there so we (karl, kate, jack and me) looked for that on the side aswell...didnt find any. drove back after morning tea - we had real coffee from a cafetiere!!!! how exciting! said hi to fiona at the office, found out she got the go ahead for the house in mount eden, it wont be lived in unitl we leave sadly 😞 then onto acb. the messed up our rooms again but we didnt get an upgrade to a family room with ensuite and tv this time. im with kate and yung in a cramped 6 bed dorm. went to wagamamas with karl, jack and kate in the evening then went to see role models at the cinema (pissed myself laughing)
SAT - typical saturday, shopped, had sushi in the park again 😊 i need more sushi in my tummy on a regular basis, photos onto facebook, i tried to burn a cd of my photos myself, didnt work, i need help! went to the cinema to see seven pounds with kate, awesome film, i was gripping my seat and crying for parts
of it, i recommend you see it!
SUN - goood day today 😊 me and kate went ot mission bay as a spur of the moment thing (bought some boardies and felt like a beach trip) was so good just lying in the sun 😊 got fish and chips ate them on the beach then a glass of wine in a very nice restaurant/bar thing called De Fontein (recommended by Dan, he knows the places to go!) excellent round off to the day sitting ont he balcony with a glass of sauvignon blanc, and i swear that place empoyed only fit guys! good times 😊 now im just waiting for my laundry to be dried!
