how ya goin?!

We eventually got to Auckland after our long time from 90 mile beach. As everywhere had been relatively quiet, we were surprised to hear that the Auckland top ten site was full. After such a long drive and then through very hectic traffic we weren't keen to go and find another one, especially when our map had no road names! It was also close to dinner which never helps, so our hearts sank! Luckily the girl said we could park on a tent site for the night until more sights became avaliable the following day. Thank God!

We couldn't believe we were finally in Auckland and were days away from going to Fiji. We were starting to get anxious about going home, it was really strange. We had alot to sort out with the van i.e. packing, cleaning, doing washing, sorting to food to put into the free box. Actually, if there is one thing we would recommend to anyone coming to NZ, it is to start at Auckland top ten as the free box is like a mini mart! We got crates of beer,3 litres of wine, chocolate, rice, pasta, literally anything you can think of, as alot of people leave from here so get rid of all their stuff!

We went into the city centre which took an hour on the bus. We went to the skytower which was cool, but other than that the city wasn't that great. There is alot of shopping but not much else to see or do and to us it just lacked character. A city is a city at the end of the day! Also there is apparently quite alot of bag snatching and robbing by the mauris which we didn't know about until a chinese lady told us to be careful of my bag. The last day we had in Auckland we spent pretty much dropping the van back, getting to the YHA for the one night we were there and sorting out stuff. It was nice to have our summer clthes packed back on the top of our packs again ready for FIJI!!!!!
