Waterfall behind my Apt.
...where we jumped in and swam! I got my history and culture papers turned in earlier this week and did my biology presentation this morning...meaning that I am now done with all the school part of this trip, and now done with all of my AA, yay! No more Harvard on the Hill for Lacey! 😊 I'm pretty excited to be done with my AA but then I keep reminding myself that really that just means I'm half way done and that I still have 2 more years...most likely at Western in the fall or winter, we'll see what happens!
Anyways, the week was fun! We found a waterfall/swimming hole back behind my apartment and had fun jumping off that and swimming on the three hot days this week; it was nice seeing the sun again! Thursday we took a ferry from the wharf in Auckland 45 minutes out to an island that is a bird sanctuary for a Biology field trip, Tiri Tir Matangi Island to be exact. That was pretty fun because the island was beautiful and so was the water surrounding it! I saw some flightless birds, which was interesting and then we swam and laid out because the weather was really nice.
It's getting early into Saturday morning for me and I have to get up at 4:45 this morning to head to the airport for my 6:50 flight. This time I have 2 people waking me up because I knew I wouldn't get much sleep and I wasn't going to miss another flight; I learned my lesson last time, the hard way!! 😊 So, I should get some sleep. I can hardly believe all the school part is over and we're already to our last week: travel break! I feel like we were in Australia really long and did a ton of stuff and here I feel like the 3 weeks have totally flown by! I've been saying all week that I wasn't at all ready to come home and that I could definitely stay longer...but now that everyone's been talking about coming home I have been getting excited for certain things such as my amazing bed, unpacking and not repacking three days later, my iced white choc. mocha from Forza, and oh, seeing friends and the family! 😊 I'm so thankful for all that I've been able to do and am going to enjoy every bit of my last
Maori Culture teacher
Kylie, and yes thats a real tatoo on her chin! She was our very fun, out spoken, culture teacher while here in NZ week here. Some plans so far are sky diving in Nelson, the city that gets the most sun in all of New Zealand, which is up at the top of the South Island and has three national parks around it...it's supposed to be beautiful gold sandy beaches and clear water. Next time I'll be telling you all about that will be from home!
I land in Seattle March 8th in the afternoon. Thank you guys for reading my blogs (I hope it's been fun seeing what I was up to) and for keeping in touch.
Cheers!
