Having a scruptuous meal at McHughs Restaurant in Devonport Sunday 26th October,2008
Woke to rain. After breakfast Mary and Edward picked us up and drove across the Harbour Bridge to the charming seaside village of Devonport. A lovely unique village atmosphere with speciality shops, galleries and cafes. After a wander around, we drove up to Mt Wellington - very windy - for some spectacular views and then to a lovely restaurant - McHughes - right on the bay. More lovely views over to Raratonga. The weather improved as we drove to the Museum and into the Conservatory. What magnificent flowers displayed in two sections and then into the fernery. When we reached Mt Eden it was absolutely freezing but we stopped and took a photo of Kupe the first Polynesian navigator to reach Auckland. After driving through the suburbs we saw Mary’s old abodes and then came back to Mary’s. This is where we said goodbye to Edward who gave us a wonderful day of sightseeing. We just relaxed this evening.
