Just thought i'd share a few pics from my birthday with you all! Sarah and Sean decided that they'd surprise me and have a cake made and it was yummy considering all we'd been eating was rice & bread! Mama and her team spent all day baking it and even had to get the ingredients and candles from the main land. As you can see we had a big table of friends by the time the cake was ready ;o) ... read more

After a few days spent chilling at the Coral Coast in Fiji (where it actually rained - how rude!), we decided to spend a few days relaxing even more in the Mamanuca Islands, namely Bounty Island (hope you like the pun!). Further relaxation was needed there though, as we got local buses from Coral Coast to Nadi - very cheap, but don't think they have breaks (heck, some don't even have windows!!!). The locals kept on telling us when to get off the bus, and after what seemed a very strange detour around dirt tracks of Fiji, we arrived at the marina & caught the ferry to Bounty Island. It was the setting for the first Celebrity Love Island ITV show (and don't they let you know it!), but you can see why!Fabulous beach, and only ... read more

We've just spent 8 days on a desert Island ! Our Desert island was "Bounty Island" apparently it's also known as Celebrity Love Island - but we didn't know that when we booked it. It's really strange at one end of the island they've got this abadoned resort/film set that was used for the programme, and it's not used at all anymore, oh, except that they've nicked the pool and moved it so that we can all use it ;-) We had our own beachside bure, which was very nice; and all the food is imported and cooked by them, really all we had to do was lie in hammocks and appear at the right time for meals ;-) We may have left the island heavier than we arrived.... The reef was just offshore and we ... read more

Its the end of the first leg of my travels... I say goodbye to Malc and hello to Nins... Its a strange time, as I am really happy to see Nina, but also very sad to leave Malc. We have had a great few months together and experienced some incredible things. A trip I will hold dear to me for the years to come. Nins and I leave LA in the evening. Nina is still a little Jet lagged from the UK journey and I guess she will not know up from down when she gets to Fiji, which is 12 hours and a date line away.... The 4th of June does not exist for us this year - spent ages trying to work it out in my head, but basically we went from 8 hours ... read more

We are waiting outside our hotel as we have been told we are being picked up at 0830 for our transfer over to Mana Island. There are about 30 other people here too but they are all waiting for either the Feejee experience or the awesome adventures buses. By 8.45 we are still here and everyone else has gone. Sean & Sar go inside to ring them, apparently we are now being picked up at 9am and our boat is now at 11am (it was suppose to be at 9.30). We are abit mad as we are now going to lose half our day travelling! At 9.20 an Indian lady comes running up to us saying how sorry she is and that we have to go quickly as our boat leaves in 10mins (i guess the ... read more

Update from Zoe We had a 2 day stop over in Los Angeles, which was hectic. The first night we crashed out in the hotel called Ritz Milner. It was ok, tiniest room ever, but the location was excellent one block from the metro. They don't advertise public transport much in LA, if you ask anyone about how to get somewhere they say taxi, but the metro does exist and is cheap and easy to use. The second day we went to Universal studios - absolutely brilliant. A really good time to go as well, cos the park was pretty quiet, the most we waited for any of the rides was 20 mins. Jurassic park ride and the studio tour were the best by far. In the evening we went to the Dodger stadium to watch ... read more

Well after being in New Zealand for 2 months in the freezing cold it was a huge relief to get to the Fiji Islands. It was in fact their winter there but you would never have thought it whilst lying in the sun on one of the 300 islands paradise beaches! Our first stop was Nadi (which is actually pronounced Nandi) and to the nadi bay hotel. We'd checked into there for a few days to get sorted before heading off to the islands. Nadi town was not the best place to be so most people head to islands as quickly as possible. It was a really run-down city, with locals hanging around all over the streets. As we walked down the street everyone was looking at us, we kept our heads down trying not to ... read more

3/6/2006 1107 Zulu (3/6/06 2307 NZ time and 3/6/06 0707 ATL time) Location: 2636’ S 17627’ E Since the boat is on Zulu time I figured my journal should be as well. I started writing this in my physical journal and then figured I would have to retype into a computer for the blog so we’ll see if this works. As long as I don’t get seasick. So tonight is Saturday night, and I have 2 hours to go of my watch. I can’t believe its Sat night. That makes this my 5th night at sea. I spent most of today thinking it was only my 4th night, but something didn’t seem right. So finally I looked at my watch and it said it was Saturday. To confirm I went through the dinners we have had ... read more

Bula, that is the one phrase that you hear all over Fiji. It means cheers or hello or anything really. You soon get used to just hearing it shouted to you all the time even from complete strangers. So Bula to you all! We had a few problems with the plane we caught from LA to Nadi. The first problem started before take off. There was something wrong with the internal lights, this was rectified within twenty minutes or so and after waiting for the next take off window we were up and away in the air with no hindrances. The flight itself was fine, a bit bumpy at times but I really like that (strange I know!). They were also playing some good moves that I had been waiting to see for ages, The Chronicles ... read more
