Last night one word can sum up the evening HORROR! The evening starts safe where we go down to dinner again I am unable to eat so just have a glass of coke. We stay down there for a bit watch some of the villagers sing then me and Laura decide to head up and just end today. We get back into the room somehow the bathroom is locked on the inside so after seeing someone throwing up in the public toilets we were not going to use them. I tried to use a hair grip in the door to unlock it... This did not go well tv shows are misleading. So Laura sees one of the staff walking past and asks for help. They ask if we have a pen knife say know so they ... read more

So this morning was awkward I got up but didn't feel better so I went for breakfast by myself. I got in there and Laura was there I went up and said hi but it was like speaking to a stranger I didn't know how to act. I got breakfast thinking we still needed space I sat at another table she took offence to this and asked why I'd done that. My view was yesterday you told me we are not travelling together anymore I'm not sure how I'm supposed to act. She left so I packed my stuff ready for boat in afternoon and went onto decking. Still avoid sun due to sunburn so kept in the shade reading. Laura came over as they were on the beach and said she didn't want it to ... read more

So we went out at this hostel on the night with the same people again. Laura had to make some calls about work to sort out what she was going to do. Gemma wanted to know a bit more about me and my ways such as my eating habits and with people due to wine I ended up going through my past about my eating disorder and past family issues. It was better to talk about it but that's stuff I keep to myself and don't go into felt weird to open up about it. Now we are wayalailai Island. It is officially hell... Kill me now or make me a raft to get off of this island. The morning was rocky as Laura wasn't herself she sniped at everything I said all morning in the ... read more

Cap’n’s report - 103 nautical miles over 12 Days. Well after all the waiting in Vuda Point Marina for crew I almost have some. One maybe, an English woman who really wanted to go to Vanuatu for the diving or a couple of Swiss world travellers (Urs and Marianne) but they can’t leave till the end of October. So while I considered my options I headed out to Musket Cove. I had last been here in 2011 with Lorraine. Since one, if not two cyclones had hit then the place, so I wondered what it would be like. On Sunday 12 October, I set off into a head wind so it was a steady, though lumpy, motor. The combination of head wind and short sharp sea sometimes slowed Hakura down to a few knots but we ... read more

Absolutely glorious weather today (typical as we were leaving today) so obviously I got more sunburnt from sitting in the shaded hammocks – damn you ginger skin. Someone how I managed to burn half of my shin in a perfect line. Did some more amazing snorkelling, although we hadn't realised it was heading towards low tide so we played dodge the coral and then struggled on the stones for the last 100 metres on the way back in. Lots of cursing and screeching and finally Em and I got back on soft sand. We then took the 3 hour ferry back to the port. Because I was lobster red I had to sit in the cabin below deck but it smelt really weird and made me feel a bit sick. Bus back to the hostel -return ... read more

Bit cloudier today and we just mainly hung around in the hopes the Mantaray drum would beat again. Unfortunately it didn't wah. Bit more snorkelling, lazing about in hammocks, reading my book (real hard work stuff). Another incredible 4 course dinner (diet is going great) including sweetcorn fritters, soup, chicken crepe and fruit salad. Played some games that the island organises, involved pushing a stone as far as you can as a pair without crossing a line, this girl Sammi and I should have won, but did at least win a cocktail for best performance - given that she was a dancer and did the split and then I swung her back round I feel this was well deserved. We then decided another night of drinking games was in order – by the end of the ... read more

Frantic packing in the morning to get ready to leave Beachcomber to move onto Mantaray island. Not the smoothest of boat trip for someone who did far too many shots the night before. This fate I had intended to avoid, although this did not go to plan. The scenery was absolutely amazing so at least that was of minor healing. Arrived on the much bigger island of Mantaray (famous for its Mantaray seeing) to more singing and a delicious Mango drink. We were shown to our dorm and had an lunch. Cheeky power nap and then some snorkelling – the snorkelling here is much better than the other island and there are some really colour fish – one really small one is this wonderful electric blue colour. Because Em and I are stupid we missed out ... read more

Amazing buffet breakfast of pancakes (was not expecting this luxury). Again another pretty chilled day, you can't exactly go anywhere when you could walk around the island in 3 minutes. Not minding being trapped in Paradise too much. Someone's got to do it. Lots of card games, swimming, messing about with the go pro. More card games learnt – although I can't remember the name but this Australian called Ben taught us it, something about 2's?. We went on the snorkel trip that was provided by the hostel, and fed the fish some bread. They are so hungry and go mental for the bread flocking around you until all you can see is fish. People after those fish pedicures, just put some bread between your toes, they will just bite all around. Was lovely snorkelling although ... read more

My verdict on Kava is that it apparently has no effect on me as I woke alot in the night. So jury is still out on that one, you would think that 7-8 bowls would have done something. We got the bus to the port to head to Beachcomber. The boat journey over took us past a couple islands and I must admit this is how I had pictured Fiji to be. Dont get me wrong Nadi beach was nice, but the water wasn't the crisp blue and didn't have the clarity I was expecting, it was more murky. Likewise the sand wasn't what I was expecting as was tinged with grey. However sailing around these islands really demonstrated the beauty of Fiji, and essentially looked like paradise. Beachcomber however was what I had pictured – ... read more
