I was welcomed in the airport by fijians dancing and singing even though it was 5am.Went through customs and waited at the baggage collection. After a good sleep I was ready for my first long day in Fiji. Carried on waiting for my bags as people rushed off to see the sunrise outside.Only a few people left and a pram going round the carousel.Somebody had asked a security guy if there was any more bags an he took us outside to the last trailer of bags. Found the Fiji Experience office and sorted out all the paper work and waited for the bus to take me to Nadi Bay Hotel, 5 minutes from the airport. The bus droped me off with four others and THEIR baggage! Checked into the Hotel with the free night voucher from the Fiji Experience. In a 8 bed dorm with the people from the bus journey, Nathan, Beccy, Casi and Brett. Nathan and beccy were from England, Casi and brett were from Canada.There was also a lesbian couple lying on the bed opposite me! Spent the day around the pool when it had opened and walking around the streets near to the Hotel. Walking down the roads you are surrounded by corn fields, palm trees, colourfull flowers and......McDonalds!!!Rained in the afternoon so we had lunch at a ... read more

After another late leaving party on the Saturday night woke up early on Sunday 17th October ready to set off on my travels. All I had to do was pack my rucksack, get all my tickets together and find my passport!! So with a banging headache I packed my clothes, shoes, information etc and went to the airport with my Mum and Dad. After a shaky handover of the tickets to the woman at the desk we sat down for a coffee and a final chat about what was to come in the next seven months. There were a few tears shed by my Mum as i said goodbye and walked through the gate to wait for the flight.
