Fiji - Mainland 30th Oct - 12th Nov After returning to the mainland from the Yasawas we stayed at the travellers beach resort near Nadi for three nights in a backpackers room that looked more like a hospital ward. Here we planned our remaining time in Fiji. we decided to travel around the bottom of the island to Suva, the capital, stopping at a few backpacker resorts on the way. Our first stop was a resort called Tubakula (beautiful). We purchased our tickets at the Nadi bus station and two hours later were abandoned on the side of the road. Here we stayed in a four bed dorm room which we had to ourselves. After spending ages trying to rescue a crab from the swimming pool we set off on a walk which led us to ... read more

IT IS 27TH OCTOBER, WE ARE IN LEVUKA ON OVALAU ISLAND, FIJI. WE ARE ONLINE AGAIN AFTER 6 DAYS SO WE CAN NOW SEND THE BLOGS WRITTEN PREVIOUSLY! Colo-I-Suva Forest Wednesday 22nd October 2008 We have been in Fiji for one week now and have seen more rain than we get in a year on the Costa Blanca. We are in Colo-I-Suva forest, about 10 kilometres north of Suva. It is beautiful despite the fact that the “rainy season” which normally starts in about the middle of November seems to have arrived prematurely. We are on the eastern side of the island of Viti Levu, which is known to be wetter anyway. This morning, in boots and kagoules we set off to hike through the rainforest; we were heading for a waterfall but we gave up ... read more

“Bula” we are on “Fiji Time” Friday 17th October 2008 People here talk about “Fiji Time” meaning you take it slow and everyone says ‘Bula” (“Hello’) with a smile. We are in Paradise and we’ve hardly seen anything yet since this is only our third night here. Fiji wouldn’t be everyone’s ’cup of tea’; unless you are in an excusive resort, of which there are several, it is a bit scruffy, very rural and inefficient, the public loo in Nadi is unapproachable if like me you have a sensitive nose and the local busses are crowded and rickety; the mosquitoes are ferocious (we have the coils alight) we’ve been without power for the last four hours and cooked by candle-light (it has just come back on and the thunder and lightning has only just stopped and ... read more

Hello Well this is a slightly odd update, as having returned to England for a couple of months, I am now in Fiji!!!! I'm doing a GirlGuiding project and working really hard. We flew last weekend as a group of four from Heathrow. It took 11 hours to get to LA Airport and and we went striaght onto our next flight which took 10 1/2 hours to get tO Nadi, Fiji. We are a really good team and am getting on really well. We went to a fundraising event for the Fijian GirlGuides at the British High commissioner's house which was good fun and we got to meet all the many people involved in the Guiding association and we helped out and gave an presentation on our project. Last weekend was our fist Guide Camp. When ... read more

Hi all Well I know its been ages since I last updated and thats just been because I haven't had a chance due to where I have been. So I'm going to update on the Feejee experience now and my time on the islands soon when Im not so tired after a long flight where I landed before I took off. The day I last updated I spent sitting by the pool and generally doing nothing, relaxing after New Zealand really. The next morning (my birthday) was the start of the Feejee experience. I got picked up at 8am from the hotel and met Natasha whilst waiting for the bus. Our guide Anna and driver Willie seemed really quiet a bit disinterested really. We picked up a few more people then headed to Nadi town centre ... read more

Oh dear oh dear!! Well Jenna arrived 4 days ago just in time for me & Clemmie to get over our jetlag & so the party commences!!!! Night 1 with Jenna at the Beachouse we had a few too many tipples & started playing RippyTippy (Spots to u & I) so as soon as we can manage to add the pics you will see exactly how badly that night went!! VERY funny although I think we were frowned upon just slightly by the rest of the guests who were most certainly on 'Fiji time' & not 'Lets get shit faced & make perfect arses of ourself time'!!! HA!! In fact we actually got sssssushed by a small group behind us as they were trying to explain the rules to their game!! Well - BIG mistake BIG, ... read more
