Taking a well deserved time out after a very hard day at the office
The rest of Robinson Crusoe
Well its been so so long it seams since fiji so i think ill just have to remember what i can and generalise everything for the time being. Soz ive not updated my blog for ages, youll probably find it hard to believe but ive not had time. Time goes so fast over here and theres is always something to do or someone dragging you out.
Anyway - back to Fiji Robinson Crusoe from day 3 onwards.
Well i should have been going back to mainland today but as having so much fun with the best people ive met i just cant go and must stay longer.
As you can see from the picture i enjoyed spending time in my hammock - one of my favourite places and best ways to recover from too much rum and Kava from the night before. Was there quite often! Its a hard life! We went on a snockiling trip out to a coral reef. I was pretty nervous as it was the first time since my big scare in Maui that i tried to snorkle. I had a quick chat with Lex
Robinson Crusoe Firewalk
Ziggy Firewalking - obviously!
(Fijian tour guides / fire fighters) and told him to keep an eye on me. Got in the water but it really spooked me and i felt myself tighten up so thought it best to give it a miss and get back in the boat. Was gutted as i believe it was pretty cool and they also were hand feeding fish.
I guess the night of the 3rd day was much of the same. Card and party games, alcohol (just a little bit) and kava. I remeber going down to the beach on most nights to have a beach fire and someone would play the guitar and we would sing along. It was really cool but there were so so many mossies and sand flys. Got bit so so many times. One time i counted 30 bites on just one side of my foot (really itchy!). The night sky on a few nights was really specatular and so clear. You could see so many stars and even like space clouds and what looked like other galaxies (they probably werent????, but looked great!)
There was a day where all the day trippers come to the island and invade it
Robinson Crusoe - more kava
Chillin at the pirates night club after more Kava and booze.
for 1/2 a day. I hated this day. The island is usually a really chilled out slow paced place. Then all of a sudden a boat arrived with about 50 tourists (if your wondering im a traveller, not a tourists....theres a difference!). Within seconds there are people running around everywhere, people of all ages and cultures and countries (lots from SE Asia like koreo, china, japan) - All our peace and tranquility had gone! There was a big fat American woman that proper pissed me off! When the firewalking was been done id found myself a nice spot right at the side. What does this fat heffer do. Come over and stand straight in front of me with her video camera (felt like shoving it up where the sun dont shine!) Aswell as that some coconuts were been handed around for everyone to try and pass on....what does she do? Eat the dam lot!
Luckily the day trippers leave at 5pm...ish. I think we played volleyball once theyd left. PLayed a lot of beach volley ball. Must admit considering never played it before i wasnt too bad after a few days. That night Lex let me be his assistant
Robinson Crusoe after mud fight
After a Kayak trip to the mangroves which involved a big mud war.
in the Kava ceremony so i get to hand the Kava to everyone. Lex thought it would be funny to give me a really really big strong cup of Kava (it was like a fishing bowl). I was one of the first to drink, i then had to hold the bowl and walk over to each person and present them with the Kava. Well my whole body was shaking and i could hardly walk - everyone found it really amusing!
The next day we had a trip to the mangroves in our kyacks. The mangroves were back on the coast of the main island, so a 15minute boat Journey. The mangroves are like what you see in the amazon rainforest. Narrow water ways with vegetation eitherside. Myself, LEx and a few others bombed off in front. After 15minutes Lex disappeared so me and few others went looking for him. Thats when we got pelted with masses of sloppy mud from Lex. We all got together, out of our boats into the dark muddy water and decided to ambush the rest of the group when they came by. It was so so funny and it ended up been a big
mud battle. We were ALL covered head to toe. Me and Chuck (one of the guys from America) decided to charge the other team. We got blasted from all directions then ended up wrestling with the other guys. We had mud in our eyes, mouth, ears...everywhere. Even on the ways back to the boat when back in the kyacks we were still having mud fights as we went along! I was finding mud days later! But ive never laughed so much in my life. One of the funnisest moments so far! On way back we stayed in our kyacks and got dragged by the boat across to the island which was good fun too.
Last night on the island was quite a chilled out affair - no wild party. Even so i still think it was a late night. Got to go for now as getting kicked out of the internet cafe. And very tired too. Up early tomoz to watch Liverpool and MAn City!
