1: hottie islander / islenho canhon 40 secs
Kia Orana from Aranau 'Enua O Ru Ki Te Moana, meaning Ru in search of land over the sea but, to make things easier for those of us who don't speak maori, was changed to Aitutaki (a'i tutaki means to keep the fire going), being Ru the 1st settler of the island who, with his 4 wives, his 4 brothers and their wives, arrive here to decide to keep the island for himself and send his brothers away, and it's not surprising that he wanted the island just for him, because Aitutaki doesn't belong to this world: the moment you see the lagoon from the plane your jaw drops and it doesn't close back until you leave. It's just paradise, everything you imagine from a tropical island and more...pictures don't make justice and, even though I try to explain, the words I'll choose are not enough to describe the beauty of this place...

If Rarotonga is the island of tranquility, Aitutaki is sleeping: days go by while you swim or snorkel in the lagoon, soaking in dozens of different colors: in 20 mts of water, it changes from jade green to indigo blue, going through turquoise... a feast for your eyes; or while you read under a coconut tree (keeping an eye on falling coconuts!!), fishing, walking... nothing that requires abig effort.

We arrived on friday night and, on saturday, to celebrate my birthday, we went on a lagoon cruise: they took us snorkeling OUTSIDE the reef and it was incredible: due to fantastic visibility we saw the lava fingers that are called Fish City where hundreds, if not thousands of fish swim around the coral towers that grow on the lava; we saw turtles, eagle rays and so much and different sea life that will take hours to describe.

Inside the lagoon the snorkeling is not less impressive: giant clams, morey eals and, again, hundreds of fish species...

We went back completely sun burned and, as it was expected we woke up one morning covered in blisters... perfect for the wedding!!

We spent the days in good company: Eckart, who decide to fly from Germany and spend 35 days in paradise; Simon, who started his trip with his girlfriend but she decide to go back without him and Arianna and Christian, on their honeymoon, who we met in LA, Rarotonga and Aitutaki!!

With them we went to an Island Night: buffet of local food and a great show with dancing warriors and hip shaking girls...

Dax wnet fishing with the boys on our last day as singles...and brought back 2 Yellow Fin Tunas which we barbequed that night...

The big day finally came and waiting for the sunset was eternal... but that's material for another blog!!

The last day, which was the 1st of our "official" honeymoon, we went on another lagoon cruise...

All together, these have really been 10 unforgetable days on an island full of geckos, hermit crabs, fantastic people, incredible sunsets, hours spent in the lagoon and even more hours spent reading... it has truly been 10 days in paradise...

The best: the colrs of the water
The worse: the mosquitos, blood thristy vampires...

Me he muerto e ido al cielo?
