Had dinner last night with Shintaro, the Princess, and the Boy (AKA Jason). Jason is 18 and just finished high school. University starts next semester. He works part-time as a server at a banquet hall on the weekends, and to fill his time during the week, he's self-taught himself some pretty nifty magic tricks. DAMN HE'S GOOD! He had me in awe. Well done... if only I could figure out a way to become his manager now while his fees are still low. In all seriousness, I was very impressed with his talent. If his parents could hone in on his skill, they'd be able to retire early. I wish I had some pictures but unfortunately, I was too busy trying to figure out how he worked the prestige. Hopefully, when we get back from the ... read more

What am I doing Here?! Yes, well. Those who knew I was starting my travels with a week in Melbourne... well, this week, I think they all know why I'm not there now. But for the rest of you. My Grandfather, my mother's father, passed away at 10.30 am on Thursday 8th February, 2007. His funeral was today, at 11pm. He will be missed by his sister, five children, and countless grandchildren and friends. Of course I couldn't go to Melbourne. I am currently trying to work out *when* exactly, I will be getting down to Melbourne. Watch this space.... read more

The joy of shared dorms! we had a german guy, a mexican guy and an english girl with us in the dorm last night. A fuse had blown and we had no lights. so all showers had to be had in the dark with the door open so we could get some light from a torch. We all respected this except for the german guy! when i was in the shower he put his head in the door to perv and the same with jen and the other english girl! Complaining gets u everywhere so we were moved to another empty room just for me, jen and steve! Unfortunatly we were moved nextdoor to what seemed like club 18-30, partying until 7am! now, i am too old for that so more complaining had it sorted! all ... read more

Hello all, We're still in Sydney and the fun is still going strong.. Although yesterday and today is raining, so trying to catch up on emails etc. Yesterday the rain was crazy, I have never seen so much rain in my life! The water reached up to my knees, it was unbelievable! Although, today it was all gone again and that probably proves how dry it is here at the moment. The weekend gone has been a bit crazy, but a lot of laughs. Fri night- went out for dinner(Linden's restaurant) with a big group of people, amazing food, wine and right on the harbour with amazing views. We thereafter ended up in 4 more clubs.. Going out with Amba is dangerous and the night just keeps going and going for some reason:) he he Saturday- ... read more

23 celsius, at 22.30, as we stepped of the plane in Sydney, after 38 hours of continuous travel from Santiago, Chile, via Lima, Peru, and Los Angeles, US, was just the start of a great fortnight Down Under. Swiftly taken to our hostel in Kings Cross (a slightly less seedy version of the London namesake) by the airport shuttle, we landed a room with panoramic views of what must be one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. Waking up a bit later than usual, at 11 (due to a tiny jet-lag), we set out to explore Sydney by foot. Soon we discovered that all the places had very familiar names. Wait a second, they've just stolen all of them from London - Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Paddington, Kings Cross, etc. Couldn't they've been a ... read more

Feb 8. Ferry to Manly to pick up copy of 'Mosman Daily' article. Called Tarrin at 'Liverpool Leader'. Got article yesterday page six. He'll send a copy to me. Got a call from Victoria in Perth. Long discussion to explain what I wanted for 'in the news' on website. She said $350 to do it so I said do $180 worth. Stroll around Darling Harbour. Bloke said he'd read about flag in Strathfield (Inner West Weekly). I'll have to call tomorrow to confirm. Feb 9. Ferry to Balmain to get 'Inner West' article. Good spruik. Had to go to Drummoyne to get into distribution area. Got article. It was that funny photo of a sticker in front of my face so one eye was covered, sticker blurred. Cumberland newspapers readership of the five I have gotten ... read more

Hola mates! This is my last blog from Australia! I have absolutely loved my time here. I went many wonderful places and met many friendly people. I just finished my Australian Final Exams and am flying to New Zealand tomorrow morning. The pictures associated with this blog are from the Good Vibrations Music Festival in Melbourne and the St. Kilda Festival in, surprise, St. Kilda, a suburb of Melbourne. The Good Vibrations Music Festival was headlined by Jurassic 5, Beastie Boys and yes.......Snoop Dogg! The tickets to the show were a little out of my price range, so I headed down to the Festival grounds with one thing in mind----get in for free! After a little bit of liquid courage I walked up to the largest Kiwi (New Zealander) security guard that I have ever seen ... read more

We arrived on this sub-tropical sand island which is about the same size as Surrey and were met by our tour ranger for the three days called Graham. Then we got on board his 4X4 lorry/bus which was to be our transport around the very rough terrain which varied from very steep descents and inclines to flat desolate beaches with the occasional Dingo. The tour took us from one fresh water paradise lake to another. Along the way we saw lizards, spiders, Sub-Tropical rainforests, 'Sand Blows' or 'dunes' depending from which hemesphire you come, Dingo dogs (fox type scavangers) and a fresh water creek or two. The Walking was hard but rewarding. Coming out of the two kilometre trek through the jungle to a silent fresh lake was sheer bliss, hopefully the photos are a good ... read more

So we're settling into life in Melbourne very easily and absolutely loving it. It took us a while to find somewhere to stay but we've now got ourselves a little apartment in St Kilda East, close to beach and easy access right in the centre of the city. It's also a few mins walk to Chapel Street which houses plenty of boutique, trendy clothes shops to keep Caroline busy. The apartment is great, and has it's own tennis court, swimming pool and BBQ so we're pretty sorted really. We also have a rather friendly possum waiting by the window each night as it gets dark. As you hopefully all know, the one day series came to an end yesterday and for a nice change we WON. We managed to get to the first final at the ... read more
