In Perth CBD A little window shopping Retail therapy! Sarah and Sharifa had a biweekly (or is that semi-weekly…anyway once every two weeks…) meeting to go to for a few hours so Sarah dropped me off in Perth to wander about the streets…basically doing a little shopping! There are basically two main streets full of shops that I browsed. I picked up a few things like a pair of sunnies at 50% off. Whoohoo! I met up again with Sarah around 1:30 and we headed towards the Metro food court. I had Japanese food on my mind and was going to order an assortment of sushi but thought the Chicken Katsudon with rice would be more filling. It was huge but that didn’t stop me from finishing it all. :) We got a hold of Karen ... read more

Whilst in Albany we ventured to the gap and the natural bridge and the blowholes, all of these are natural rock formations. We braved the whaling museum after, which although sad was enlightening and worth seeing. The next day was spent chilling in Albany and seeing the old gaol (jail) and then heading off to Esperance, due to us leaving late we had to stop in a small town called Jerramungup which consisted of a roadhouse, hotel and a campsite and a few houses. In the morning we headed the rest of the way to Esperance arrived around lunchtime. Drove around on the coast road and checked out the beautiful beaches and coastline, we even stopped at the pink lake (although it wasn't really pink!!).... read more

We get to sleep in Scenic drive round Albany Back to Perth tonight. We had what seemed like a super “late” departure at 8:30 this morning. I still woke up early and just lay in bed. The hostel provided breakfast for us so it was pbj toast. Yum! Psychomom was “normal” again. Her daughter was so cute yet she’d get yelled at really harshly...even sworn at! Crazy. Anyway, the little girl was so cute. She gave me a hug and wanted to give me a kiss as well but her lips were all sticky with jam. I got her Winnie-the-Pooh to give her a kiss instead. We stopped off at a couple of scenic spots in Albany like the magnificent waves at the Gap and also the Natural Bridge. The water is so powerful and destructive ... read more

Departed on the Friday morning. I was a little late and for once Claire was on time! The result of which was me being in trouble... wooops (Thankfully this wasn't going to set a precedent for the entire weekend)!!! After the car was packed and the rules laid down (Rule 1 - No Mention of Work. Rule 2) No fast food to be consumed. Rule 3 - Daniel can made up further rules whenever he wishes.) we were on the road for the short two and a half hour drive to Margaret River. With the trusty iRiver cranking out some tasty tunes (much to Claire's delight) we made good time with only one stop required to pick up the ultimate road trip food, a cheese sausage! On arrival our tummies were rumbling which was a signal ... read more

Hi Guys! Finances = Green Fitness = Amber (going towards red!) Relationship = Green Arguments = Half (cos Mark won't argue!!!) We're back in Perth. 2000km since our last blog and we've ended up in the same place! But we've had a lovely tour north of Perth especially as we have our new car. Just over four weeks ago I was gutted at having to give up Floozie (my car for those of you who don't know!) but to my great delight we picked up Floozie Two last Thursday! Obviously not as good or original as the first but close enough to feel very at home and enjoy the new, improved engine acceleration!!!! We've been quite adventurous this week. My highlight was feeding a wild dolphin (called Surprise, so only wildish!) in Monkey Mia. It was ... read more

Raining cats and dogs From 3AM to wake up. The skies are clearing. We had a 7:30AM start so it wasn’t too bad this morning. I woke up before my own alarm but that is probably because of the three other alarms in the room that went off before mine! That’s okay though since I really wasn’t asleep because of the loud rains pounding on the roof. Now we’re on our way south with our final destination being Albany tonight. Part of the scenic drive included seeing the big Karri trees. Looking at them from the road they don’t look all that big but once you are standing beside one you realize just how large they really are. An optical illusion! Onward to Augusta and Cape Leeuwin where the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean meet ... read more

Whilst staying at Bridgetown you cannot miss the biggest tourist attraction here and thats the Gloucester tree, which is a 60m high lookout and you can climb it if you wish, of course i wished!! The birds in the forest were that friendly that they sat on us looking for food. After the tree were headed down the coast to see the great tingle tree, a tree with the largest trunk, from there it was to the valley of the giants and the treetop walk. After all that we travelled some more to Albany were we spent the night.... read more

Don't look down!!

The Gloucester Tree was in Pemberton. It's 60ft high and has a very unsafe-feeling ladder with little to protect you if your foot happened to slip! On our way from the car, James decided to feed a nearby parrot some of my apple. It wasn't long before we were flocked with encouraged parrots, landing all over us... what a novelty! We shakily climbed the tree then took a stroll... and later stopped at a vineyard where I had a tasting session before purchasing a yummy bottle of special red wine! Our next stop was at the biggest burnt out hole in a tree - caused by a forest fire - which tourists were once allowed to park their car inside! We then moved on to the Valley of the Giants, where we did the tree top ... read more
