Fiona and Andrew
in Kings Park, with the Perth CBD behind us. Well we left Sydney this morning for the 5 hour flight to Perth, WA is also 3 hours behind Sydney so we landed two hours after we took off, sweet.
We were sad to leave Sydney, it's the best city we've ever been to do but we're determined to see as much of this vast country as we can but are defo going to spend another week or two in Sydney at the end of out time is Australia, we fly out of Sydney to Korea in August at any rate.
We nearly missed our flight this morning, we slept is as I set the alarm for the wrong time and woke up at 8am, our flight was at 09:30 but you only need 30 minutes check-in for internal flights here, just as well.
We got a bus and made it to the airport for 08:45, plenty time, got checked in and headed for the gate, the gate opened at 09:10 but we wanted to have a shower before we got on so went to the Virgin desk and asked to use the showers, after arguing that we'd only be 10 minutes they let us use them, 20
Andrew, Lara & Frank
in Kings Park, with Perth CBD in the background. minutes later we were running for the gate and got on at 09:20, everyone was happy and we were on our way.
The flight was long as there was no entertainment or free drink, in fact you had to pay for everything, food, water etc, not great but we got there safely so musn't grumble.
Now we decided on spending half our time in Australia in Perth for a few reasons, very few people get to Western Australia but those who do say it's amazing, we had to spend 3 months working somewhere and renting in Perth is far cheaper than the East Coast and there is plenty of work, as there is on the East Coast to be fair, but lastly and most importantly I have family out here that I haven't seen in 20 years.
My Mum's cousin Frank, and his wife Lara, moved out here from London in 1990, I had spoken to Frank via e-mail a few times before our trip and they were happy to put us up in there home until we got somewhere ourselves, in fact things turned out better than that as they have a few houses in Perth and are renovating one at the moment so they were happy to let us stay there until it was ready to rent out, blackjack!!
So Lara met us at the airport clutching a photo of us while we looked around for a blonde women with glasses as Frank described, we met easily and were soon on the short road to there house where we would be staying. The house is amazing, on an acre of ground with a spa in the back yard, it's in the Bayswater are of Perth on the main metro line, about 10 minutes on the train from the City Centre. They have another house that they rent out 2 stops further up the line and live in a beautiful house in the country, about 45 minutes drive away with five acres of land surrounded by kangaroos and green parrots, it's another world I tell thee.
Anyway when we got to the Bayswater house we were introduced to the family, Jessie who is 6, Pheobe who is 5 and little Tigerlily who's only 2, three girls in the house and they were going mad to see us, Jessie, the black one, was running about in circles and Pheope who's Tigerlily's mum was licking my ankles while little Tiger, who's bigger than her mum, was tring to climb up Fiona's legs, oh did I mention they were Pugs?
Anyway after the excitement died down we opened a bottle of plonk and jumped in the spa, we could get used to this, it was real hot, much more so than Sydney but we coped, the wine sorted that out.
Frank came home and made us dinner before we planned the week ahead, they are throwing a party in our honour on Saturday and have taken time off work to show us the city over the next couple of days so we're really looking forward to it, it was a great first day and we're really excited about spending a lot of time in Perth.
